Changxing Overview
Changxing County is in Zhejiang Province. It has a total area of 1,430 square km and a population of 620,000 inhabitants Changxing, established in the third year of Taikang's reign (Jin wu di) (282 AD) in the Jin Dynasty, has an extensive history of over 1,700 years. It has rich resources and long cultrual heritage, and cherishes its fame as the realm of fish and rice, the home of silk, the land of culture, and the distinguished county in the southeast.

Changxing County is located in the center of the Yangtze Delta, China; on the southwest
bank of Taihu Lake, bordering Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui.
Changxing has great advantages in its location, around which are 52 large and medium
cities including Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Ningbo, Wuhu, etc. and
73 million inhabitants, which forms a great economic zone. Changxing is the transport
center of the Yangtze Delta

capacity of 500 tons, and an annual transport amount of 2,000 tons. It has the fame
of the eastern Rhein.
History Of ChangXing
Changxing County is located in the Hangjiahu Plain of the Yangtze Delta. It is in the north of Zhejiang Province and borders
on Jiangsu Province and Anhui Province. Taihu Lake is to the north, Tianmu Mountain to the west, Hangzhou to the south, and
Suzhou to the north. The whole county covers an area of 1430 sq.km. and has jurisdiction over 16 towns with a population of
620,000. Changxing has picturesque sceneries and mild climate. It has the good named as A land Flowing with Milk and Honey ,
The County of Culture and The Hometown of Silk. The Neolithic tools of production, such as axes, stone ploughs, stone spears,
disinterred in the ruins in Heping Lion Mountain, Zhicheng Taiji Mountain, etc, shows the fact that people began to live in
Changxing and engage in agricultural & fishing activities at least 6000 years ago.
Changxing was named as Changcheng (The Long-shaped City) in ancient times. In the Spring and Autumn Period, the Kingdom of Wu
and the Kingdom of Yue were fighting for the hegemony from 514 to 495 B.C. He Lv, the King of Wu sent his younger brother named as
Fu Gai to establish his state known as Fu Gai State in the place which is 1 km away southeast of Zhicheng Town nowadays. It is
named as Changcheng because of the long shape of the city. Changcheng (Changxing nowadays) has the history of over 2500 years.
In 221 B.C,. China was divided into 36 prefectures, and Changcheng belonged to the Huiji Prefecture. Later in Han Dynasty,
Changxing was successively within the jurisdiction of Yangzhou Prefecture, Huiji Prefecture, Wuxing Prefecture.
In 282 A.D. Changcheng was isolated from Wucheng County and became Changcheng County. In the Northern and Southern Dynasties,
Chen Baxian, the first emperor of Chen Dynasty was born in Changcheng. In 557 A.D., he established his empire of Chen with the
capital in Jiangang( Nanjing nowadays ).
In 589 A.D, Changxing became a part of Wucheng county within the jurisdiction of Suzhou. In 602, Changcheng County was
reestablished within the jurisdiction of Huzhou. In Sui & Tang Dynasty, Changxing was developing fast and prosperously both in
economics and culture. The Guzhu Tea Yard for Royal Members prevailed the other tea yards in China at that time. The Sage of Tea,
Lu Yu, named the tea here as Zisun Tea(Purple Bamboo Tea) and wrote it into his Book of Tea. Yan Zhenqing, Zhang Wengui, Dumu,
the governors of Huzhou, supervised the process of tea. Jiaoran, Bai Juyi, the famous poets, and Su Shi, Wang Shipeng, the
governors of Huzhou in Song Dynasty, all came here to enjoy the tea and beautiful sceneries. In 908, Qian Mu, the king of Wu
Yue, changed the name of Changcheng County into Changxing County which has being used from Song Dynasty to present.
On April 26th, 949, the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army liberated Changxing and Changxing County Peoples Government was founded on
May, 16th. The Land reform movement was launched in the December of 1950. After a three-year recovering , Changxings gross output
value of industry in the year of 1952 reached the amount of 4.71 million Yuan. In the year of 1956, The socialist transformation
of the agriculture, privately owned industrial system and handicraft industry has been generally completed with the aim to
boost up the economics.
Since the reform and opening-up, Changxing has been making progress in each field. The rapid development of industries has
resulted in the six main industrial groups of fine chemicals, biological medicine, mechanism, electronic goods, Textile of Light
Industry, metallurgy, and new type building materials. A group of key enterprises are growing and expanding fast. The profitable
agriculture is also in quick steps with the five main agricultural industries of vegetables, melons and fruits, seedling trees,
special aquatic products, and domestic animals and fowls. The traffic network is being improved day by day. There are two
national highways, tow highways, three railway arteries, and one waterway running through the city. In addition to the trade
center of the border areas of the Province of Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui, Changxing has turned to be the materials
distribution station for the three above provinces owing to the speedy development of its system of logics. In recent years,
Changxing has been titled as National Top 100 Most Competitive County , National Advanced County of Science & Technology
Development , National Hygienic City , Provincial Model City, Zhejiang Top Education County, Winner for successively four
times for Model County of Army & Government Supporting, Top 10 counties of Investment Introduction .
Changxing, the city integrated with ancient culture and modern civilization, possesses superior natural conditions, regional
